Late night at LACMA

So Jaime and I showed up to this event at around… 9:30pm and did not get in until about… 12:15am…. not cool, not cool at all.

This event boasted many of things to do and view on the website and I was really psyched for it, but I was extremely disappointed by how unorganized the event turned out to be. Music Performances, food tasting, T-shirt Silk Screening, booze, so forth… because we got in at 12:15am, we were limited to what was still going on. The chocolate and tea tasting booth, was over at 12:00 am. Ima Robot performance, over at 10:00pm; information that probably could have been posted on their website so that visitors could plan ahead of time? Sooooo, seeing how many of the spectacles were long gone and over with, Jaime and I got $8.00 burritos and hot dogs and started our journey through this so-called “late night” event. I will say that the main Art show by Dan Flavin was pretty cool, not the most innovative art I’ve seen but interesting nonetheless. I guess when you get to work with bright colors, the glow can make anything look cool.

Late Night LACMA 1

The Crowd was a strange one as well, a big mix of kids and adults, art enthusiasts, people with nothing else to do, really brought a weird ambiance to the scene. So all in all, it was interesting, and the Art show which was probably the most important to the LACMA event was probably the best part about it (as it should have been), but most definitely not worth the excruciating 3 hour wait they put everybody through. All the other events and shows that did not involve revenue of sort closed early and was really disappointing to be missed by many.

Oh, and DJ Steve Aoki, apparently mixed from 7:00pm to 3:00am..
