So… David Beckham is coming to America, and you want to be a soccer fan, what better way to brush up on your ‘football’ knowledge and pretending that you are totally into soccer than by attending a match- better yet how about a soccer tournament between 20 contending teams? Or how about, what better do you have to do on a Saturday afternoon?
On Saturday, July 14th, Anthem Magazine along with Adidas hosted a soccer tournament with complimentary BBQ, drinks, and music at me ol’ stomping grounds Crossroads. The Crossroads soccer field, known for its astro-grass field, was divided in two to make way for two small fields that allowed for 5 vs 5 matches. Simply put, it was awesome and tons of fun! Imagine this: free Mojitos (very good ones), free beer, free burgers, beautiful weather and non-stop soccer all day while DJ King Britt brilliantly spins everything from Biggie Smalls to Quasimoto to 80’s pop to house music. A great turn out of people of all ethnicities and ages- as well as a spectacular display mohawks, tattoos and limited edition sneakers. The matches varied between amateur teams to league teams with Tuff Gong as the favored team to beat. Then there were teams like the Vagabonds and The MTV Mustaches who came to the event fully prepared and appropriately dressed (picture: Adicup 2 & 3.)

Lets face it, wouldn’t you be in the mood to play soccer if you got to hear Rod Steward in the background,”if you want my body, and you think i’m sexy, come on honey tell me so. If you really need me just reach out and touch me , Come on sugar let me know….“
