Huge in the art world and Bjork’s baby’s daddy…Oh, Matthew Barney. The Cremaster Cycle, the Guggenheim, those amazing photographs and sculptures…its just too much. I didnt see his and Bjork’s Japanese sea voyage flick, Drawing Restraint 9, however, if it is anything like his Cremaster work…its most likely a nice blend of intellectual and visceral stimulation. You can see the trailer here. Either way. Barney’s work is intricate and crisp and at times its so raw that you cant turn away. Having said all that…the word on the street is that his new work, Guardian of the Veil, shows a departure from his previous digs. Might be interesting to see what he brings to the table. -J
