This show was pretty awesome! To be honest, I didn’t really read too much about which artists would be showing when I posted the event and wasn’t even sure if I would be able to make it, but as I heard good things about the last installation, I figured I should check it out. As it tuned out, I was really surprised and really glad that I did.
Scion, the producer of affordable vehicles, and also quite possibly the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen on four wheels, presented it’s fourth installment of Scion Installation Art Tour. This year’s theme was It’s A Beautiful World, where each artist was asked to express that theme through: paint,
photo,
sculpture or collage. The tour travels over 9 cities and this year it lands in Los Angeles as the final stop. Over 30 artists participated including David Chloe and The London Police and some of the pieces are just amazing. The line for the reception wasn’t long, easy to get in, cool music, free little booklets about the installation, an available cash bar, what more could you want? Well, Unfortunately Matt and I arrived there with about 15 minutes to spare, so we only got to enjoy it for a bit before the Gallery started flashing it’s lights to get the people outta there- so that was our bad.
The show continues until June 1st where all pieces will then go for Auction, all proceeds will benefit charity. The starting bids ranges anywhere from $300 to $1500, affordable, even for people like me.
To participate, check the official website for details. It’s a show to check out for sure and a chance to get your hands on some cool art for affordable prices. The Gallery is a bit hidden and parking sucks, but definitely a must do. Picture set on Flickr
