At: A Target near you.
Info: Rogan is the 11th designer for Target’s, now famed and at times coveted, Go! International line.
I have been excited about Rogan for Target for sometime now and last evening it was judgment night for the long awaited clothing line. As I pulled up to Barneys (never been and thought it was kind of amazing and also kind of ridiculous) in my dirt dusted Jetta surrounded by Benzos and Rolls, I had second thoughts about going to the invite only, paparazzi bender of a party. I mean, come on, I hadn’t washed my hair that morning and I was wearing my high school graduation dress (it’s not hideous, but also not my first choice). Either way, I had to push past my own fugly insecurities and make it to the party and more importantly, the clothes.
Allow me to digress for a second and briefly explain the collection to you. “Environmentally conscious” designer Rogan Gregory is bringing his laid back aesthetic to Target’s infamous Go! International guest designer collections. For the first time it will consist of 100% organic materials alongside fabulous silks. In addition to being eco-friendly (even though the clothes are made in China and I’m sure the Pacific Ocean thought it was really “eco-friendly” when they sludged oil through their delicious blue waters) never before has the end all of high fashion department stores (Barneys) invited such a vagabond like Target into its home. It’s fashion history in the making, people.
So, back to the party. Upon entering the designated Rogan area, I almost tripped up the stairs from all the flashing bulbs and felt like I was in some bad chick flick when I showed up and there were audible sighs of disappointment, as I’m not a celebrity. Cest la vie. I was immediately overwhelmed at the simplicity and awesomeness of the line. I enjoyed the fact that there were really only a handful of colors (black, white, grey, a splashes of yellow and aqua) in the collection. I thought it was bold of Target to release it, especially at the onset of summer what with fashion’s love for color this season. After about two seconds and a deep breath though, I made a straight line for some champagne and started shopping.
About two hours, two glasses of champagne, eight items from the collection and a decent bill later, I was ready to go home an bask in my recent purchases. Word to Rogan, this is definitely worth checking out. However, as embarrasing as it is, I went back to Barneys this morning to return something *yay* and also replace said return with more items *gasp* and by 11 am the racks were looking mighty bare. If you are planning on going, it might be a better bet to just wait till Sunday and try your luck at Target.
Rogan for Target is available at Barneys May 16-17 and at nationwide Target stores May 18-June 28.
