Steve Olson Solo Show @ 01 Gallery, May 24th - Jun 28th

Steve Olson, probably better known for his skating, has made quite a name for himself in the Art World. Matt and I decided to go check out the show since it was Downtown and we needed to do stuff around there anyways. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed; not that I did not like his art work, because I thought that they were pretty cool, I just thought that I would get to see a variety of his art work.

This solo show contained variations of his piece “Game Over” which were variations of a Polo Player being chased by Military pieces such as submarines, tanks, bombs, etc…. The only other piece at the show was entitled “White Ni**a.” Well, besides the interesting phrase, the lettering was done in black leather straps and the white background was done in a plush-like material, which gave it an overall, “nice” feel to it. I have to say though, my favorite thing was the Dr. Strangelove Bomb, “Ride This!”
