Personally, I think this is great. Having started working downtown at the LA Times building, I’ve come to realize that downtown needs more than just loft developments, it needs more activities, it needs more cred, it needs more dopeness. It’s cool and all, but it could be bustling, it could be what it once was. It could be…the city center again. LA needs some kind of centrality to it, a place where people can feel like they actually live in a thriving city. So, a film festival that is dedicated to downtown and takes advantage of our gorgeous, historic theaters, our modern museum, our hi tech schools…it sounds wonderful. It sounds like something that LA needs and wants and is ready for.
